Quick answers to common questions about how Eldor’s systems fit together.
Character and equipment
Can I combine magic, combat, and crafting?
Yes. Eldor is classless, so a fixed profession does not prevent you from developing other skills. Your practiced skills, equipment, and preparation shape your role.
Which skills do axes, maces, daggers, and staves use?
Axes use their own Axes skill. Maces, warhammers, and staves use Mace Fighting. Daggers use Fencing; spears and halberds use Polearms. One- and two-handed swords share Swordsmanship.
Can I mix armor types?
Yes. Individual pieces contribute to the total. You can combine cloth, leather, chain, and plate, including different material tiers, instead of needing a matching set.
Are robes and ranger pieces separate armor classes?
No. The documented robe and ranger-style sets belong to Cloth. Visual style is distinct from the underlying Cloth, Leather, Chain, or Plate armor class.
Is heavier equipment always better?
No. Heavier armor offers stronger base protection with movement and stamina tradeoffs. Weapons differ in speed, reach, and commitment. Material families can also support different resource needs.
Can I choose my crafted weapon’s appearance?
Yes. Choose visual component models while crafting: blade, hilt, grip, and pommel for bladed weapons; head, shaft, grip, and pommel for axes and maces; head and pole for polearms. Personalization applies across all crafted weapon types, with parts appropriate to each type. These choices are cosmetic and grant no bonuses.
Are magical bonuses and legacy titles the same thing?
No. Magical weapon modifiers affect combat. Legacy titles commemorate the weapon’s history and are cosmetic. Material tier and crafting quality are separate parts of an item’s identity.
Can I cast when my stamina is low?
Yes. Spellcasting uses mana and its other casting requirements, not stamina. Stamina supports physical attacks, guarding, and movement.
Can I change equipment during combat?
Yes. Equipment swapping, including armor changes, is allowed during combat.
Does equipment use common, rare, and epic tiers?
No. Crafted equipment is distinguished by material, crafting quality, maker identity, and individual history. Cosmetic component choices add no power.
Gathering, trade, and magic
Can I make a living without focusing on combat?
Yes. Gathering, processing, crafting, and selling eligible goods provide economic paths. Player vendors let specialists sell their work to other players, although traveling through the shared world can still carry risk.
Must I leave starter areas for better materials?
The gathering design ties the result to your skill rather than a mandatory zone ladder. Valid resource objects can remain useful as you improve, even when their appearance changes by biome.
Are processing minigames mandatory?
No. A station worker can process your materials for the standard output. Manual operation offers an efficiency benefit. At the smelter, successful bellows work also saves time, while a failed attempt refunds the ore.
Does manual processing make higher-quality equipment?
Its bonus is additional processed material. Finished-item quality belongs to the crafting step and its recipe, materials, and skill rules. Manual inscription is different again: it offers a time advantage.
Are Tailoring and Leatherworking the same skill?
No. Tailoring follows the fiber-to-cloth path and creates textile goods. Leatherworking follows the hide-to-leather path and creates leather equipment and components.
What changes when I cast from a scroll?
The consumed scroll replaces the cast’s reagent cost. Mana, cast time, words of power, targeting, range, line of sight, and interruption still apply. Alternatively, add the scroll to a spellbook to learn the spell.
Must a scribe already know the spell?
No. Inscription skill unlocks standard spells within the relevant circles for scroll production. Materials and the required skill still matter.
Risk, reputation, and recovery
Does choosing a peaceful profession remove PvP risk?
No. Your profession does not grant immunity from other players. Eldor uses consequences for unlawful aggression rather than treating a gathering or crafting choice as an automatic PvP opt-out.
What do I lose when I die?
Lootable carried property goes to your corpse, including equipment and carried currency. Permanent skills and learned character progression stay with you. Banked possessions are separate, and explicitly non-lootable items are exceptions.
Does opening someone’s corpse make me criminal?
No. Opening or inspecting a corpse is legal. Successfully taking a protected item is the action that causes criminal consequences.
Does a monster’s loot belong only to its killer?
No. Monster and wildlife corpses are freely lootable. Expeditions do not introduce exclusive item ownership; an optional gold-sharing agreement covers currency only.
Will healing a criminal make me criminal?
No. Beneficial assistance such as healing, buffing, curing, or resurrection does not itself create criminal status.
Can I log out or die to clear my record?
No. Criminal timers and murder counts persist. Eligible decay runs while your character is alive, logged in, and fully in the world. Offline time and time spent as a ghost do not erase the consequences.
What happens if I attack a town vendor?
Protected NPCs are innocent targets. Harming them can make you criminal, and they can defend themselves. A dead vendor cannot trade, and a dead banker cannot provide their service. Killing an innocent NPC is criminal but does not add a player-murder count.
Exploration and shared stories
How do I find something to do without a quest chain?
Set goals through your skills, trade, equipment, group plans, and curiosity. Ruins, books, environmental clues, and ancient writing can lead to hidden discoveries beyond ordinary gathering and hunting.
Are the four kingdoms enemy factions?
No. They have different cultures and resources, but their relationship is built around interdependence and trade. Kingdom warfare is not the foundation of Eldor’s setting.
Do expeditions give special progression rewards?
No. They organize a player-chosen activity, support an optional gold-sharing contract, and record what happens. Activity labels and journal milestones do not grant direct progression bonuses.
Can someone else defeat a rival that killed me?
Yes. Rivals are shared-world enemies. The original victim has no exclusive claim to the eventual kill, and a surviving enemy is not guaranteed to become a rival after every player death.
Will a rumor or trail tell me exactly where to go?
Not necessarily. Regional rumors can be incomplete, delayed, or outdated. Physical evidence is temporary, and Tracking may influence what you can learn from it. Both support investigation without guaranteeing an exact target location or creating a quest.
How do our adventures become part of the world’s history?
Expeditions record notable events and can leave persistent journals or books. Crafted weapons retain maker identity and can gain cosmetic names through their deeds. Rivals preserve memorable enemy encounters, regional rumors spread news, and world chronicles retain selected major events. Tracking exposes temporary evidence of recent activity, while item provenance preserves the history of important possessions.
Does every test build contain all of these features?
No. This guide presents the intended finished-game experience. Development builds can contain a smaller selection, and details still under design are kept open rather than presented as settled rules.
